Merc Benz SLS AMG and Veyron 16.4 win 2010 Robb Report Awards
US luxury magazine Robb Report covers the finest and the most expensive of everything up for sale on the planet. Yachts, private jets, choppers, jewellery, mansions, food, travel and of course, supercars make it the pages of the mag every month.
They have been handing out the Car of the Year award to worthy machines over the past 17 years
This year’s winner is the new poster boy of Merc – the comeback vehicle of the gullwing door, the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG. Eleven contenders had to bite dust as the SLS AMG drove off with the Car of the Year title. The car makers list included Allard, Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Spyker. So the SLS can be proud of the fact that it had to fight some serious competition to win this one.
Since it’s the conclusion of a defining decade of automotive action, the mag also found it apt to institute the Car of the Decade award. No surprises as to who the winner is. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport grabbed the trophy for all the right reasons. The record-breaking masterpiece on wheels which overthrew the McLaren F1 and the Koenigsegg from the throne of the fastest car in the world, in its drop-top version impressed the jury and took the title with ease and elan.
Wonder who all will make it to the 2011 Car of the Year nominees list.
