Spied! 2012 Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Roadster
The Mercedes SLS AMG has earned itself quite a lot of praise from TG’s Jeremy Clarkson. It is now Jeremy’s new best car in the world. Mercedes is all set to bring a drop-top of the SLS AMG soon. Test mules of the roadster weren’t able to escape the lenses of Autoevolution during winter testing.
The main difference between the original SLS AMG and the roadster is the lack of gull wing doors. Most buyers wouldn’t mind though since the doors did make you look like a complete show-off and that getting in and out of the car was a bit of an undignified chore.
The SLS Roadster will debut at this years Geneva auto show with a 6.2 litre AMG V8 which will produce round about the same number of horses as the gull winged version connected to the rear wheels via an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed dual clutch sports transmission. Expect this roadster to reach speeds of up to 200 mph and 0-60 mph in 3.8 sec.
