Ever since the Mahindra Maxximo One Tonner pick up truck was launched, murmurs about a passenger carrier based on the Maxximo began doing rounds. Tata came up with the Tata Venture People Mover at the 2010 Indian Auto Expo to a stellar response and that was that, the tipping point.

Not to be upstaged, Mahindra seems to have hastened the launch of the people mover version of the Mahindra Maxximo, which might see a launch as early as the next 4-6 months. The Mahindra Maxximo People Mover will seat about 8-10 people and will most probably feature an engine sourced from Navistar USA, with whom they already have an engine tie up.

A speculated price tag of close to INR 5 Lakhs will mean that the Maxximo People Mover will be targeted square at the cabbie crowd, who will be licking their lips in anticipation. With this latest bit of news, it certainly looks like the people mover MPV Space is set to see some major action in the days to come. Watch this space.
