The car has now went on to get into the list of the top 10 sellers in the month of November, which would be marked as one of historical moments in the history of the country as the government announced its revolutionary demonitisation drive on November 8.
Tata Motors sold a cumulative 6,008 units of the Tiago in the month of November, bringing it into the pool of best selling cars in the last month, by being at the 10th slot. Tiago posed a share of 47 per cent of the total passenger car sales for the company in the last month, which stood at 12,736 cars.
The top three cars in the list comprise of the Maruti Suzuki Alto, Dzire and the WagonR respectively, all of them clocking more than 15,000 units each, with the Alto going all the way to more than 23,00 units.
The Tata Tiago now sees waiting period of close to four months, depending on the variant and city. Tata surpassed the 50,000 bookings mark for the car in October and this number has been on a constant rise, since the introduction of the car in the market.
Tata manufactures the Tiago at its Sanand facility in Gujarat and the company has deployed a two-shift production system for the Tiago, so as to keep its demand-supply ratio within check and avoid large customer waiting periods and keep them as low as possible.
The Tiago has seen fairly reasonable success in the Indian market and the car has been accepted well by the customers in the small car space, who have appreciated its contemporary styling, tasteful interiors, interesting features and good overall quality levels.
The car also comes at a reasonable price tag, which has made it quite a value for money proposition in the small hatchback space, which is highly price sensitive. The Tiago comes with two engine options, a 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel motor, which produces 67 BHP of power and 140 Nm of peak torque and the other offering on the cards is a 1.2-litre petrol Revotron petrol motor, which develops 83 BHP of power and 114 NM of peak torque.
