Tata Tiago is company’s all new product after long time. The product looks well put together and has earned many positive reviews till now. But this smart little car is hit by misfortune even before its launch. Because of global Zika virus outbreak, company had to change its name from earlier Zica to Tiago, at eleventh hour and launch got delayed several times after that for unknown reasons. Now finally the company officials have confirmed the launch date of this new car to be 6th April 2016. Earlier the launch was supposed to happen yesterday on 28th March.
Tata Tiago is the first car which follows company’s new IMPACT design language.
Tata Tiago is indeed a great car (read our review report here) and promises to offer a lot more than what competition has to offer in its segment. It has better fit and finish levels, smart infotainment system with superior speakers, two engine options with two drive modes, customization options inside the cabin and many such elements which makes it a promising product in its category. When launched, it will compete against Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Hyundai Grand i10, Honda Brio etc.
With Tiago, company has completely done away with X-mas tree tail lamps.
Unfortunately what was stopping Tata Motors from launching the product is still a mystery. Initial delay was because of name change exercise, but the current delay could be because of company’s ongoing ‘Geared for Great’ campaign. As a part of this, all three latest passenger car offerings – Tata Bolt, Tata Zest and Tata Tiago, are paced through Vehicle Research & Development Establishment’s (VRDE) test track in Ahmednagar for more than 300 hours non-stop. As per the current status, Tata Tiago is running continuously for 35,000+ km and still counting. Aim of this activity is to prove reliability of current gen Tata cars, test their fuel efficiency and change the brand’s perception in long run. The figures coming out of this excercise will earn credits for the car and can be used for marketting it very postively.
Now when we have official confirmation about the launch, it’s the time to sit back and wait for the day. The bookings have already opened across the nation and you can pre-book the car at nearest Tata Motors dealership or online.
