Toyota Etios: Specifications

Toyota Etios engine specification

Toyota Etios -- 1.5 litre petrol engine

Toyota has finally launched the Etios. Indian Cars Bikes has been on top of this story since the concept was first shown to the public at the Delhi Auto Expo. With the launch of the Etios, Toyota hopes to woo the average middle aged person who until now had the choice of Indigo Manza or Swift Dzire for his family five. Off course, the Toyota badge itself might attract potential customers to the Etios and for good reason.

To start with the Etios will only be available with a petrol engine. A 1.5 litre motor pumps out 90 ps @ 5600 rpm and 132 Nm @ 3000 rpm. Such impressive torque figures mean less gear changes in bumper-to-bumper traffic situations. Etios comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox with ventilated discs upfront and drums at the rear.

A diesel engine is also on cards, but Toyota refused to disclose the exact specs and time of its launch. We think it will probably be the same 1.4 litre d4d that goes in the Altis diesel. Toyota might swap the Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) of the Altis with a Fixed Geometry Turbo (FGT) which will bring the power down to about 70-75 bhp.
