Toyota finally recalls 270,000 Toyota Prius cars in Japan & USA

After mulling a recall for days, Toyota finally issued a recall of 270,000 Toyota Prius Hybrid cars in Japan and the United States to address a potential braking issue. The recalled cars will receive a software reflash/upgrade. Toyota has blamed a software glitch for causing the braking issue in which there is a noticeable lag between the application of brakes and response of the brakes. Toyota has also said that this issue occurs only when the ABS(Anti Lock Braking System) is active. Meanwhile, Toyota is already facing tremendous pressure from all quarters with it recalling 8 million cars in the past few days. This recall is expected to cost Toyota more than USD Two Billion.
