Transformers 3 Bumblebee Camaro Car crashes into Police Car on Sets in DC
Let’s forget the movie critics who slashed both Transformers movies to a million pieces for the absence of what they call movie making excellence. Let’s ignore the dozens of bloopers which we got to spot in the critically panned sequel. Let’s try not to pay attention to the fact that the entire franchise is a reason to sell more of Hasbro’s range of transforming toys (amazing ones in their own right) and a bunch of cars from the GM stable.
It isn’t hard to admit that Michael Bay’s extravagance of robotic action with fireballs as high as the Empire State building, action sequences which blind us with their sheer awesomeness and noise which shatters our eardrums is always lapped up by millions of action movie addicts around the globe. That’s precisely why, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is one of the highest grossing movies in history. So when Michael Bay is making the third installment of the series, all eyes will be on the sets, to catch a glimpse of what goes into a Transformers movie, which character is going to make an entrance and which cars are going to get lucky this time.
One of those prying eyes managed to shoot this video from the filming location of Transformers 3 at Washington DC and what we got to see broke our hearts to smithereens like one of those exploding skyscrapers from Bay’s Armageddon. The Chevrolet Camaro which dons the role of the heroic Autobot Bumblebee had a nasty crash with an actual cop car which was driving past the filming location in response to a distress call.
The Camaro was expected to swerve into the convoy of Autobots while they were, as you guessed by now, “rolling out” following Optimus Prime in his Peterbilt truck mode. The Camaro sped across the road, rammed into the cop car and took the impact right on its face. The Chevy SUV made it out with minimal damage and did a pretty decent job of keeping the officer driving it unhurt. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about the Camaro which was a mess as far as the front fascia was concerned.
Even the Decepticon Barricade (remember the Saleen Mustang cop car from the first Transformers movie?) hadn’t given the Bee such a powerful punch on the face in any of their previous encounters.
Watch the video closely, you’ll find that the Camaro was followed by the Ferrari 458 Italia which plays an Autobot warrior in the movie. Imagine how disastrous it would have been if it was the Italia leading the way instead of the Camaro.
Optimus Prime once uttered the golden line which fits this scenario like a glove –“Fate rarely calls upon us at a moment of our choosing.”
