Volkswagen to auction the new Passat and donate proceeds to WWF
Volkswagen will be auctioning off the all new Passat before the finals of the current season of the IPL. Volkswagen is one of the official partners of the tournament and the proceeds from the auction will be donated to World Wildlife Fund (WWF) India.
The auction will be online, starting April 25, 2011 for 10 days and routed through the IPL official website to eBay for the transaction. The winner will be presented with the car in a ceremony just before the finals of the tournament. The car will be in Highline trim and Cashmere Brown. The car will bear the signatures of all the teams captains on the bonnet and will come with an autographed cricket bat as well.
Commenting on the auction, Mr. Lutz Kothe, Head of Marketing and PR, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt Ltd said, “We chose to auction our newest product, the All-new Passat and donate its proceeds to an organization like the WWF which is dedicated to conserving the environment i.e. also in line with our Think Blue campaign. The All-new Passat is on display at all the stadiums of the IPL matches and we are very happy with the response that we have received since its launch late last month.”
The all new Passat was launched in India this month and is priced at Rs 20.80 lakh ex-showroom Delhi and comes packed with a host of creature comforts. The car features are segment topping 170 bhp 2.0 litre TDI engine with peak torque of 350 Nm. As a part of the latest VW Bluemotion technology the new Passat comes with Start-Stop, low resistance tyres, low friction mechanicals, low idle speeds and brake energy regeneration.
