BMW 1 Series M Coupe beats the M3 and M5 round the ‘Ring’

The Nurburgring Nordschleife has been the proving ground for most German auto manufacturers for years. BMW’s latest 1 Series has just been fitted with a nuke where there used to be an engine and has been round the ‘Ring’ in just 8 min 12 secs beating the previous generation M3′s time 8 min 22 sec. E92 generation M3 however with its powerful V8 manages a significantly quicker time of 8 min 5 sec. Infact, the 1 Series M coupe goes round the Nurburgring faster than the V10 powered M5. Now that’s quite an achievement. BMW won’t mind the hardcore 1 Series to be faster than the M5 since it is will be replaced soon.

The recall effect now seems to have rubbed off on BMW with the 1 Series coupe coming under the ambit of the NHTSA scanner. The BMW 1 Series cars supposedly could go up in flames due to insufficient clearance between the B-pillar and the seat belt tensioners. Read more
