New word emerges about the Skoda CitiGo hatchback for the Indian car market

Will it, won’t it? That’s been the generalĀ  buzz around the the Volkswagen Up! hatchback, which could be the German brand’s entry level model for India. Volkswagen has been maintaining that it will launch this car in India if it manages to bring down the cost suitably. Or else, the brand could come up with an all new sub brand to make a range of low cost cars, just like Nissan plans to do with the revived Datsun brand. However Volkswagen group brand, Skoda India is continuing to make positive noises about bringing the CitiGo hatchback to the Indian car market.

Next generation Skoda Laura replacement/European Rapid in Team ICB’s render

Days ago, we brought you a story about Skoda putting the MissionL concept sedan into production to spawn what could be the European Rapid sedan, that is expected to replace the current Skoda Octavia/Laura models. Our roving eye in the sky, EarthFusion, has delivered a render on how this car could look like when put into production. The car is expected to be bigger than the current Indian Rapid sedan, and will sit in the D-segment space, that the Laura/Octavia is expected to vacate in the coming years. The Volkswagen MQB platform is said to be the base of this car as well.

Skoda India launches Fabia Scout Hatchback at a starting price of INR 6.79 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi

Skoda India has been testing the Fabia Scout variant for quite a while now and finally, the launch has happened, with the Czech brand launching this hatchback in the Indian car market at a starting price of INR 6.79 lakhs, ex-showroom, Delhi. The Fabia Scout’s diesel engined variant is priced higher at INR 8.10 lakhs. The main changes on the Fabia Scout are cosmetic in nature with the car now looking more rugged than its hatchback brethren. However, you are not to mistake the rugged looks with any improvement in ground clearance or off road ability as the Fabia is no different from the regular hatchback variant except for the body kit.

Skoda India officially launches the Superb Ambition variant in India at a price of INR 18 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

Skoda India has officially launched the Ambition variant of the Superb luxury saloon in the Indian car market. The 2012 Superb, in Ambition trim loses many features for its entry price to be lowered to INR 18 lakhs. At this price point, you can buy the petrol variant with the 1.8 liter TSI engine mated to a manual 6 speed gearbox. The diesel engines Superb Ambition however will set you back by INR 22.5 lakhs. The diesel model features the 2 liter TDI turbodiesel engine producing 140 Bhp-320 Nm. This engine is available only with a 7 speed dual clutch DSG automatic gearbox.

2012 Skoda Superb luxury saloon soft launched in the lower priced Ambition spec at INR 18 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

Skoda India has opened up the level of choice in the Indian E-segment luxury saloon space by soft launching the cut price version of the Superb saloon, dubbed the Ambition variant. This car will be available in both petrol and diesel engine guises with the petrol forming the new entry level Superb model. However, the 3.6 Liter V6 petrol engine will not be available in Ambition trim. For that, you’ll have to go in for the top of the line, Elegance, trim as the V6 engined Superb is positioned as a high performance car targeted at enthusiasts who love driving.

Skoda India declares that the Rapid that caught fire in Delhi wasn’t due to a manufacturing defect

Weeks ago, a brand new Skoda Rapid sedan went up in flames in Delhi. Although no one was injured in this fire, the incident gave rise to doubts about the safety of the Volkswagen Vento/Skoda Rapid platform as a Vento caught fire at Pune, killing its owner in the process, a couple of months ago. Skoda India investigated this incident and has had this to share about the possible reason for the Rapid catching fire, even as Volkswagen continues to keep mum about the Vento fire,

Post the technical evaluation, we can confirm that there was no manufacturing defect in the vehicle and the fire was caused due to external factors.
