Tata Motors recalls 145,000 Nanos for replacing starter motor!

As a part of a preventive recall, Tata Motors is recalling 145,000 units of the first generation Nano hatchback, to replace the starter motor. There have been many issues of starter motors failing on the early Nanos with a high incidence of Tata Motors replacing the units under warranty. Now, this issue has been sorted out with a new starter motor in the 2012 version of the Nano. The new starter motor will be installed in the older version of the Nano, 145,000 units of which have been sold in India ever since the budget small car was launched in 2010.

Honda Brio & Hyundai Eon: Cars that were supposed to bring cheer to the Indian auto industry in 2011

Year 2011 may not go down in the history books as one of the best years for the Indian auto industry however, it did bring some cheer to the average auto enthusiasts and small car buyers. We saw a couple of new small cars being launched in a period that hasn’t been quite conducive for the petrol powered car. Petrol prices sky-rocketed over the year that’s gone by leaving the average middle class consumer now other way but to switch to diesel cars. The market for diesel cars grew exponentially in 2011.
