The future of internal combustion engine now rests with turbocharged engines that are more fuel efficient and powerful at the same time. Secondly, with new emission norms that will soon be brought into effect auto makers are scrambling to research and develop new technologies that will adhere to the new emission laws. Turbo charging is the answer to making engines cleaner and efficient.

BMW too is at the forefront of development. The Bavarian auto giant has come up with their TwinPower Turbo Engine for the future. These engines will replace the current powertrains all across the BMW range of cars including the Mini where the engine will be mounted transversely. A new 1 Series is also on cards which will feature a transversely mounted TwinPower engine.

The range of TwinPower will be expanded to more powerful inline 6 cylinder engines as well. So we might see these fuel efficient and environment friendly engines in the next BMW 5 Series and 3 Series. The video released by BMW reveals these very same facts.
