He is called Bond… James Bond. The spy who has entertained us folks with his crazy action sequences and thrilling mysteries for years. The next James Bond movie staring Daniel Craig is set in India and the production team will be shooting a few scenes in the country. The movie involves a scene in which James Bond, played by Daniel is to jump onto an overcrowded train.

You the sort of scene which has been synonymous with India in the past where people occupy every inch of the bogie, even the roof. The Indian government has asked the director of the movie to edit the scene in which Bond jumps onto the train with people sitting on its roof and instead show normal sequence where the passengers are safely seated in side the train. The director has agreed to the notification of the Indian government.

The Government has been trying to stop the unsafe practice of travelling on the roof of the train and has been able to stop it over the years. This is good sign as the government does seem to looking into the matter seriously and has been quite proactive in dealing with it. Does this mean that the government of India will also be monitoring the local film industry and stop film makers from showing scenes that are unsafe and illegal?

Is the government trying to set a precedence for local film makers who have been showing such scenes in the past? If this is true, what effects will this have on cinema? That said, do you think the Indian government is over reacting? Please do drop-in your comments in the space below.

I think government is over-reacting. Did it just hit them that travelling on the roof is unsafe? Then how is it that they didn’t seem to care when the oscar winning Slumdog millionaire had scenes involving kids running around on the roof? Not just this, they’re denying visas to F1 teams, asking F1 teams to pay entertainment tax. All wrong!
