Chevy Spark to get a smaller 800cc engine, higher fuel efficiency and a cheaper price tag

The original Daewoo Matiz came with a 796cc three pot petrol motor and it looks like history will repeat. This time, the Daewoo Matiz’s successor, the Chevrolet Spark is all set to get an 800cc petrol engine. The Chevrolet Spark 800 will inherit the erstwhile Matiz’s 796cc, 50 Bhp engine that was pretty high tech with 4 valves per cylinder and MPFI, when it was first launched a decade ago.

This engine will endow the Chevrolet Spark with a 10% higher fuel economy which will certainly translate into considerable savings at the fuel stations.

Talking about savings, the smaller engine version of the Chevrolet Spark will sell for INR 20,000 cheaper, at about INR 2.5 Lakh ex-showroom. This pricing will pit the Chevrolet Spark 800 bang opposite the current A-segment market leader, the Maruti Alto.
