Mercedes-Benz S250 CDI BlueEfficiency
Mercedes-Benz has revealed the most fuel-efficient production luxury car, S250 CDI BlueEfficiency at Paris. It achieves a fuel economy of 48mpg on the combined cycle and emits 149g/km of CO2.

The new S250 is powered by a 2.2-litre unit mated to a G-Tronic Plus 7-speed automatic transmission with 201bhp and 369lb ft of torque at 1600rpm. The only four-pot diesel motor ever to be put in the S-Class in the last 60 years propels the car from 0-60 in 8.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 149mph. The other diesel, in the S350 BlueTEC, is a V6 which delivers 255bhp.

The car comes fitted with ECO stop-start technology and high torque at low engine speeds achieved through two-stage turbocharging – from one high-pressure and one low-pressure turbocharger.
