Volkswagen Polo Car India: Specifications, Features, Cost & More
Volkswagen Polo
Yesterday, we got the Volkswagen Polo pricing right, much before Volkswagen’s official announcement today. From initial reviews we’re hearing, the Polo exudes a high level of fit and finish, especially with respect to solidity the build exudes. The interiors are straight from the Skoda Laura/Superb which obviously means that Polo drivers will experience top class interiors. Coming to the engine options, Volkswagen India is offering a 1.2 liter three pot petrol and a 1.2 liter diesel churning out similar power outputs of 75PS.

Of course, the diesel will generate a lot more torque. That said, in a bid to give it’s petrol Polo a great chance at the great Indian hatchback market, Volkswagen India is claiming a mileage figure of 17.1 kilometers/liter for the 1.2 petrol. Customer deliveries of the petrol Polo will begin as early as March 8th while diesel Polo owners won’t be able to lay their hands on their Diesel Polos till sometime in May, 2010.
While many owners were worrying about the possibility of the Volkswagen Polo, like other German cars, being an expensive proposition to maintain, Volkswagen India has pulled out all stops to ensure that the Volkswagen Polo is inexpensive to maintain.

It has done this by achieving a localization of 50% of the Volkswagen Polo parts. This naturally translates to a a lower spare parts cost which in turn results in a lower maintenance cost. In due course of time, the localization percentage will go up even as more Polos hit the roads. Meanwhile, Volkswagen will launch the powerful 1.6 liter petrol engine in the Polo shortly.
This launch will come as great news for Indian hot hatch fans as the original hot hatch, the Fiat Palio 1.6 is set to be discontinued as the Bharat stage 4 emission norms kick in during April, 2010.
