2011 Audi R8 V8 Spyder to debut at Geneva Motor Show
2011 Audi R8 Spyder
Audi R8 has propelled Audi into the realm of the super cars. Some argue that the only proper German car to make it to the supercar list is the Porsche 911 GT3. But I’m afraid that the Porsche has the automotive charm equivalent to a bespectacled librarian.
This might float a few boats but definitely not mine. For me the Audi R8 is a hoot. The V8 was great, the V10 was fast and now, to dish out some fun, the German comes with no roof.
The Audi R8 Spyder is slated to be available with a 4.2 litre V8 motor dishing out a delicious 420 bhp. The V8 will cost approximately € 30,000 less than its larger hearted (5.2 litre V10, 525 bhp) brother already doing the rounds in the market.
The R8 will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox with the robotic R tronic..which sounds very cool. Now the problem with taking a car to the can opener causes most convertibles to lose their chassis rigidity. Not so in the case of the R8 Spyder. The car will sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in less than 5 seconds and delimited, it will go on to hit a top whack of 300 kmph.
The car is set to adorn the Audi stalls at the Geneva Motor Show next week and will go on sale soon after.
So, the Gallardo Spyder or the R8 Spyder?
