All new 2011 BMW 3-Series sedan car’s India debut slated for mid-2012

After taking charge of the premium car market of India, BMW now has a new product lined-up for our nation. The new 3-Series is out and is expected to arrive in India in mid-2012. Now, the 2012 BMW 3-Series is already available in other markets including Europe along with the current model. The new model is available in three trim levels- Sport, Modern and Luxury. The engines however, are expected to remain roughly the same.

In India, the 3-Series can be ordered with either a 4-cylinder petrol or 6-cylinder petrol. Customers have the choice of a 4-cylinder diesel as well. We could see the similar powerplants being continued on the new 3-Series when it comes to India. The base petrol engine churns out 154 bhp and 200 Nm from a straight-four configuration. The 330i employs a six-cylinder engine that is good to produce 254 bhp and 300 Nm of torque.

The 320d is the only available diesel in the 3-Series range at the moment. The 320d is also one of the most popular of all three variants. The 320d runs a four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces 181 bhp and a massive 380 Nm of torque at just 1750 rpm. As far as the exterior of the car is concerned the rear end has been redesigned altogether an now looks more like the new F10 5-Series. Towards the front the twin-kidney grille gets a shiny new rings that sort of blend into the head lights. A nice touch.

The interior too has been reworked and is ever more appealing than before. As always, the cabin is lined with good quality leather and plastics with fake wood trims. That said, the steering wheel is also new and carries the essential multi-functional keys for the driver’s comfort. We might also see the iDrive multimedia system on the new 3-Series.
