The 2011 Hyundai Verna RB goes to the United States as the 2012 Hyundai Accent!

Just ahead of the 2011 New York Motor Show, Hyundai America has decided to give Americans a sneak peek of the very affordable 2012 Hyundai Accent, which will be available in both the hatchback as well as the sedan guise. In India, the same car will be launched on the May 11th, 2011 as the 2011 Hyundai Verna RB, thus replacing the Verna Transform in the C-Segment of the Indian car market.

What is creditable is the fact that Hyundai India is selling the 2011 Verna RB with almost the same specifications as the US Spec 2012 Accent which means the 1.6 liter, 110 Bhp petrol engine and a lot many features will be the same in both the cars. India will also get a range of four engine options which include two more diesels and a smaller capacity petrol engine.

But the biggest bummer is this. While the 2012 Hyundai Accent will sell for $ 10,705 or about INR 5 Lakhs in the US market, we Indians, due t the higher duty structure and taxation levels the Indian government levies, will have to shell out close to INR 8-9 Lakhs for the US spec model.

we really can’t help the duties and taxes which are levied on us in every way in form of indirect taxes ! On the top of it, we have to deal with the bad roads and mindless traffic jams !
