Lotus has proved that you need not give up fun to be green. The 2011 Lotus Elise, with a 1.6L  4 cylinder VVT-i engine, has been certified to produce just 149gm of CO2 per Km. This is a 16% reduce from Elise S and the least for any sports car in the world.

For all those who ask for “Mileage kya hai” , here it comes,  46.6 mpg or 5.04 litres per 100 kms. If you think that its less, then have a look at the outstanding performance figures of the car.

This 1.6L mill is capable of producing 134 bhp of power which can propel this 876 kilos of machinery from 0-100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds. The car manages to run an astonishing 800Km before it runs out of fuel.

The 2010 Toyota Prius, pioneer in green technology manages to achieve a mileage of 50 mpg which is a whisker more when considering that the Prius takes 10 seconds to reach 100km/h mark. And don’t forget that Prius has to use complex hybrid technology to achieve such results whereas the Elise does it is so much easily.
