The Rolls Royce Ghost or the Baby Rolls now gets an extended wheelbase version. The British luxury car maker has launched the new longer wheelbase version of the Rolls Royce Ghost at the 2011 Shanghai Auto show. This is the first time a Rolls Royce has made its global debut in the Asia-Pacific region thus, highlighting the strategic importance of the market. The new car will be available in limited numbers this year until 2012 when production starts in full swing.

“This latest Rolls-Royce is a model of outstanding design and unrivalled luxury. Ghost Extended Wheelbase delivers all the poise and dynamism enjoyed by discerning Ghost owners, with the indulgent experience of an extended wheelbase car. It is the very best of both worlds,” CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos said at the unveiling.

Legroom in the Rolls Royce Ghosts cabin has significantly increased. The overall proportions of the car remain the same though. Knee-room in fact has doubled compared to the standard version. The Ghost is based on the BMW 7 Series and is the cheapest Rolls in the Rolls Royce portfolio. The poweplant remains the same 6.6 litre twin-turbocharged V12 which produces 563 bhp and 780 Nm of torque at as low as 1500 rpm.

We expect to build on last year’s record growth, with further strong demand for Rolls-Royce models and a positive economic forecast throughout the region,” he added.
