Toyota Etios: Price Warrior?

The production of the hugely awaited Toyota Etios is all set to commence in December, 2010 and Toyota Kirloskar Motors will make the Toyota Etios in their Bidadi plant off Bangalore.

In line with news surfacing before, the Toyota Etios Sedan will be launched first and the Hatchback version will follow a few months after the Sedan’s launch.

While Toyota Kirloskar Motors remain tight lipped about the exact pricing of the Etios Sedan and Hatchback, Toyota’s Managing Director Hiroshi Nakagawa has ruffled more than a few feathers by remarking that the Sedan will be priced close to the levels of the Tata Indigo Manza and the Maruti Suzuki Dzire while the Hatchback will sit close to the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Maruti Suzuki Ritz’s price points.

This obviously looks like a marked departure from Toyota’s pricing in the past as Toyota has always commanded a premium price for the stellar quality levels it has managed to churn out so far in it’s Indian operations. If Toyota India indeed manages to price the Etios Sedan and Hatchback at the levels its Managing Director has hinted on, we’re anticipating a huge demand for both the Sedan and the Hatchback versions of the Etios.

This, simply because the pricing seems like terrific value and this factor coupled to the extremely strong Toyota brand in India will ensure that the Etios concept gets a rousing welcome in India. Stick around for more dope.
