Volkswagen has freshened up the 2011 Jetta with design cues from the new Golf which apparently seems to have dictated VW’s post 2010 design philosophy. The previous Jetta looked basically like a Golf with a big boot. Now though, the 2011 model, even with the Golf face looks exquisite. Aggressive styling up front and a bold shoulder line adds up to a handsome and sophisticated profile. Although, you get a sense of audi-ish-ness in the overall package.

The popular 2.olt TDI with “Common Rail” direct injection will stay as will the 1.6lt petrol. By the time it is launched in India, the power output from the engine options currently offered may change. The 2011 Jetta will be like a midlife upgrade over the outgoing model. I do hope it will catch the imagination of the Indian buyer. Expect the Jetta to give a tough fight to the likes of the Civic and Corolla Altis.
