2011 Volkswagen Passat: Indian launch on 29th March!
Amongst Volkswagen India’s big launches of the year, the 2011 Volkswagen Passat will be launched on 29th March, 2011. Now, the Passat being an executive Sedan was never one of those sharply styled look-at-me kinds. Volkswagen have stuck to the tried and tested formula of making the Passat as incongruous as possible but then again, a facelifted model has to look a little different from the outgoing one, isn’t it? So, you get an all new front end with a brand new head lamp design as well a mlidly reworked rear with newer tail lamps.
That isn’t all, the Passat gets 4 millimeters longer and it is the body shell that sees some major changes to make an already comfortable car even more comfortable. Chief amongst these are changes in the metal used for the Passat to make it as vibration free as possible, thus giving the occupants of the car a very smooth drive. The interiors receive a total spruce up with ambient lighting, better seating, a central control console a-la-Phaeton and a host of feel good bits to give you that premium ambience expected of a thoroughbred teutonic sedan.
Under the bonnet though, we don’t anticipate too many changes with both the 1.8 Liter TSI petrol and the 2 Liter CR Diesel engines to continue propelling the Passat ahead with perhaps the Diesel getting a 30 Bhp power bump up to 170 Bhp. What maybe making an entry is the DSG gearbox as this is something even lesser spec Skodas now feature and it would be a glaring omission really, if Volkswagen decide to leave out the DSG gearbox out of the equation. All said, expect a minor price hike for the 2011 Volkswagen Passat and for all the new features that the car brings to the table coupled to the fact that the Passat is highly priced for a CKD, it might still continue to be an expensive albeit a good buy.
