While we know for sure that BMW India is planning to bring the 2012 BMW X3 to India soon, here are a couple of spyshots that our friends over at AutoCarIndia are carrying, of the 2012 BMW X3 being tested somewhere in Pune. By the looks of it, the butch styling of the 2012 X3′s flatter headlamps is the dead giveaway of the fact that this car is indeed the 2012 BMW X3.

Since the SUV is now being tested in India with minimal camouflage, it’s launch might just be around the corner. Engine options on the 2012 BMW X3 for India is expected to include a 3 liter naturally aspirated petrol motor good for 240 Bhp and the 2 liter common rail diesel engine pumping out 170 Bhp. As the case is usually in India, we expect the diesel to outsell the petrol many times over.

Externally, the 2012 BMW X3 is larger than the outgoing model and also features new suspension and more ground clearance. The interiors come with more space, a brand new fourth generation iDrive entertainment and car control module and thankfully steer clear of borrowing the 3 Series’ interiors. With Audi priming up a pared down 2 Liter TDI engined Q5 to take on the X3, BMW India is expected to come out with pricing close to the INR 40 Lakh mark to make sure that the 2012 X3 Crossover sells decently.

    Why are they ‘spy testing’ it?? I thought they already launched the 2012 X3 with much fan fare sometime ago….Anyways…much better than the outgoing model….It totally shows BMW should never again ‘outsource’ design and manufacturing like in the case of current X3..
