2012 Discovery 4, Range Rover Sport to get 8-Speeds and improved engines

Tata-Jaguar Land Rover have announced two new models of the Land Rover Discovery 4. The new models will be available in the UK for the moment. The major change has been under the hood where in new improved engines take place of the old gas guzzlers. The improved powerplants, apart from doing the job of burning minimum volumes of fossil fuels also burns them efficiently to produce less harmful gases.
Both the 2012 Discovery 4 and the Range Rover Sport models will get a 3.0 litre diesel engine with 256 bhp and 500 Nm mated to an all new 8-speed transmission. All this is aimed at improving the fuel efficiency of the vehicles and reduce emissions. Land Rover UK Managing Director Colin Green said that the changes will make the Discovery 4 “the most capable and versatile all-purpose vehicle on and off the road” given the amount of equipment it packs in.
“Improved performance, lower CO2 emissions and enhanced design and equipment levels consolidate the Discovery 4′s position as the most capable and versatile all-purpose vehicle on and off the road today. The Discovery 4 is quite simply in a class of its own,” Land Rover UK Managing Director Colin Green said.

2010 Land Rover Range Rover Sport
The changes to the Range Rover Sport’s power unit will ensure that the SUV maintains its position as the most fuel efficient SUV in the segment. Prices for the 3.0litre Range Rover Sport start at 48, 795 pounds which is equivalent to Rs 35 lakh. The Land Rover Discovery 4 on the other hand will be available at 37,995 pounds (Rs 27 lakh)
Jaguar Land Rover has also started the production of the Evoque and is also expected to come to India. Meanwhile, we might also see the new 3.0 litre engine being introduced in India. The new 8-Speed automatic transmission a la BMW’s ZF 8 -Speed might also trickle down to the Indian versions of the SUVs.
