The 2012 Honda Civic which has seen a major exterior redesign has already hit American dealers and will soon go on sale. The model, which will retain a reworked version of the current Civic’s 140 Bhp, 1.8 Liter i-Vtec Engine looks more like a grown up Honda City than carrying genes of the low slung current Honda Civic, which to our eyes still looks like the best Civic ever produced.

That said, Honda seems to be taking the evolutionary approach to design and while Civic purists may be disappointed with the design language that the 2012 Honda Civic speaks, plenty of folks who have the Toyota Corolla Altis as their other option may find it appealing enough to jump ship to the Honda fold as the 2012 Civic, although exceptional looking still is a much better choice than the staid Corolla Altis.

Honda SIEL will target the middle aged executive with the 2012 Civic Sedan but what we’re still hoping will make it to the 2012 Civic, is a diesel heart. This, currently is Honda’s biggest weakness across it’s car models in India and the 2012 Civic without a diesel engine while the competition(read Altis-Cruze-Laura) offers diesel engines might just make the Civic a dud seller. We have hope though, as the 2012 Honda Civic in 2013, might get a diesel engine after all.
