Honda has indeed been working on the 2012 Honda CR-V Soft Roader which will see a launch abroad sometime later this year. Information about the 2012 Honda CR-V remains tightly shrouded in Japanese secrecy but our good friends at IndianAutosBlog have managed to lay their hands on a few render images.

From the very blurry render it appears that the 2012 Honda CR-V will look uglier than ever before. Perhaps Honda has tried to infuse some goriness up front to make the erstwhile smiling CR-V’s front look a little more menacing. But, why exactly do you need a Crossover to look menacing Honda?

Here’s another image of the CR-V floating around in the interweb, which also depicts the CR-V as an equally ghastly crossover from the front. Thankfully, the rest of the car is pretty pleasant as the design of the existing model seems to have carried along to the 2012 CR-V. So, no qualms about that.

Finally, coming to the engine, Honda is scheduled to sell the CR-V in Europe with a 2.2 liter i-DTEC diesel engine pumping out anywhere between 180-220 Bhp. We’re hoping that Honda at least gives us Indians a detuned version of this motor if they have any plans of hustling the current market leader, the Toyota Fortuner. We expect to see the 2012 CR-V in India early next year.
