2012 Mahindra Xylo MPV facelift hits production; Launch could happen in a month! EDIT: Spyshot added!

2012 has all the makings of becoming the year of the MPV due to the sheer number fof MPV launches lined up in India, and we even did a story on this a while ago. The Mahindra Xylo facelift, we hear will be the next MPV to be launched in India this year, with a launch scheduled to happen over the next month or so. The facelift of the Xylo comes close on the heels of the facelifted Toyota Innova MPV, which was launched at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo. Even as competition in the Indian MPV segment rises to unseen heights, Mahindra will hope that the Xylo’s facelift will help the MPV fend off rivals.

2012 Mahindra Xylo MPV Facelift

The Mahindra Xylo is expected to come with an exterior facelift, which will be more of a mid career makeover. The interiors too are expected to get a refresh. The engine though is expected remain the tried and tested 2.2 liter. 112 Bhp mEagle common rail turbo diesel unit and the 2.2 Liter, 95 Bhp direct injection diesel engine. There has been some talk of a 4 wheel drive Xylo and it would be interesting to see whether Mahindra would launch the facelifted model with a 4X4 option.

If that happens, the Mahindra Xylo will be the first MPV in the Indian market to feature a 4 wheel drive system, thus giving it a unique positioning. While we did carry an image of what appeared to be a facelifted Xylo a while ago, we later found out that the image turned out to be a photoshopped version of an existing Xylo. Even so, if the facelifted Xylo does end up looking like the photoshopped image, the Xylo could find plenty of takers.

EDIT: A new spyshot of the Xylo MPV has surfaced at the stockyard of a Mahindra dealer and from what we’re seeing, the Xylo Facelift gets a all new front end, which makes it quite a looker. From the spyshot, it is evident that the facelifted Xylo gets new headlamps, a new grille, a new bonnet and redesigned front bumpers. With the facelifted Xylo reaching dealer stockyards, the launch can’t be far away. Watch this space!

from fulgy to decent looking
the evolving mahindra is adopting more generic design, and listening to consumer demands and complaints

Glad to see this and hope to see the same design clues in the upcoming xylo mini

That’s quite a looker, hoping to see the mini-xylo inherit the same looks. As you said, the launch appears imminent.
