All new 2012 Maruti Dzire VXI Automatic is the most affordable automatic sedan in India!
The all new 2012 Maruti Dzire compact sedan becomes the first sedan in the Maruti Suzuki stable to get an automatic gearbox. The Dzire automatic is also the least priced automatic sedan in the Indian market, where the demand for automatic cars has been growing steadily over the years, with more and more car makers adding automatic variants to their model line ups. None of the cars in the entry level C-segment offer an automatic gearbox and with the Dzire automatic, Maruti now has a unique product that is a segment leader.
The Dzire automatic is priced at INR 6.54 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi and will be available in a single VXi variant. The 1.2 liter K-series petrol engine is mated to a 4 speed automatic transmission, which in reality is a three speed automatic, with the fourth gear having an overdrive, which can be turned on or off, depending on the driver’s preference, through a small button placed on the side of the gear lever. The automatic gearbox on the Dzire is a generation old and is more of a convenience feature with relaxed performance on offer. Fuel economy with the automatic gearbox though, will see a dip when compared to the manual geared Dzire.
Coming to the features on offer, the Dzire VXi automatic has similar specifications to the VXi petrol variant, with one important feature being extra. Maruti has given the VXi automatic variant ABS and EBD as standard, and this feature isn’t available on the manual geared Dzire VXi variant. Steering mounted audio controls, automatic climate control and airbags are missing though, as these features are available onlyon the top end variants. Even so, the Maruti Dzire VXi Automatic is a good value buy for those who want an the convenience of an automatic sedan, as it is the least priced automatic sedan in the Indian market.
