2012 Toyota Camry Sedan coming to the Indian Auto Expo!
We brought you the clearest Toyota Camry sedan image yet in India, when we snapped up the 2012 Camry doing the testing round in Bangalore, a while ago. Yes, the Camry has been doing the testing rounds in India and will be unveiled at the 2012 Indian Auto expo, being one of 4 Toyota products that will be launched in 2012, apart from the facelifted Innova, the facelifted Fortuner and the new Prius Hybrid sedan.
The Toyota Camry is a perfect car of sorts, and has been a best seller for many decades now. In Indian though, the car has been a dud due to the steep pricing and the lack of a diesel engine under the hood. Notably, an overwhelming 80% of high end luxury car sales in India come from diesel engined models and the Camry not sporting an oil burner means that it is at a distinct disadvantage right from the word go. But what the 2012 Camry will improve upon is its price.
Toyota Kirloskar Motors plans to assemble the2012 Camry at its Bidadi plant from Completely Knocked Down(CKD) kits. Until now, the Camry was being imported as a completely built unit(CBU), thus being taxed a a higher rate. This will reduce the price of the Camry to more acceptable levels and perhaps will help this globally best selling car muster better numbers than it ever has in the Indian luxury car market.
The 2012 Camry that will arrive into India will be the Euro spec version, which like its name suggests looks more European sedan than ever before with grown up styling bits all over. Styling changes apart, the car is a totally revamped version in almost all the parameters that have made the Camry a best seller. Apart from the 2.4 Liter petrol variable valve timed engine, a plush backseat and luxurious interiors backed by the legendary Toyota quality is what you could look forward to in the 2012 Camry!
