Nissan Thailand has released images and a video of the facelifted 2013 Micra hatchback, also known as the March in certain international car markets. The Micra is Japanese car maker Nissan’s entry level hatchback that sells in both developed as well as developing car markets. The facelifted version of the 2013 model of the Micra will be launched in Thailand first, after which the car will be launched in other markets across the globe. India is one such car market which is expected to see the launch of the 2013 Nissan Micra Facelift later this year. India is a major production hub for the Micra and Nissan exports a large number of made-in-Micras worldwide, apart from selling the car in the domestic car market.
In facelifted guise, the Micra hatchback dumps its cutesy looks for a more aggressive looking front end. The chrome splashed front grille now features a design that’s similar to Nissan’s family face. The headlamps, front bumper and fog lamp inserts all see redesigns. At the rear, the tail lamps get the LED treatment and a new rear bumper. Apart from these cosmetic changes on the outside, the 2013 Micra Facelift retains its profile. On the inside, the car retains the dashboard and other styling bits. The facelift is a mid career makeover for this popular hatchback.
While technical details haven’t yet been announced for the 2013 Micra, the engine and transmission options are expected to remain unchanged on the facelifted model. This means that the Micra could continue with the 1.2 Liter-3 cylinder petrol engine and the 1.5 Liter-4 cylinder turbo diesel engine. Both engines are expected to retain the 5 speed manual gearbox as standard while the CVT gearbox is expected to be offered as an option on the petrol engined variants of the 2013 Micra Facelift.
Nissan India has been testing a cut price variant of the Micra over the past few months. The cut price version of the Micra is expected to be launched in India soon. Also, Nissan India has confirmed that the Indian car market will see the launch of the automatic CVT gearbox equipped Micra in 2013. Given that the car has gotten itself a facelift, expect the CVT automatic gearbox equipped Micra to be launched in India along with the facelifted models.
