The next generation of Porsche sports cars are here. Porsche unveiled the 991 generation 911 series sports coupes in standard and S variants in the year 2011. They also showcased their newest offerings at the 201 Detroit Motor Show. But, the new kid on the block was the 2013 Porsche Boxster which finally revealed. The much awaited updated Boxster is the next in the line to get a complete makeover and at first glance, the new entry-level Porsche looks nothing short of magnificent.

2013 Porsche Boxster
The new Porsche Boxster looks more grown-up than before. The air-intakes on the side are bigger and more pronounced. The front hasn’t changed much over the years however, on the new model the front bumper with its integrated day-time running lights is similar to the one we saw on the Carrera and Carrera S models. The rear wheel arches are sculpted to give the roadster a more muscular appearance while towards the rear, the new LED treatment and the lip spoiler that merges into the tail lamps gives the car a more modern look.

Under the hood of the new Boxster is some space to stow away your luggage while the engine resides in the middle, in front of the rear axle. Porsche is offering two engines in new model; a 2.7 litre flat-six with 265 bhp, 10 more than the previous model. The sportier Boxster S on the other hand gets a 3.4 litre unit shoved in between the two axles that produces 315 bhp of maximum power. The standard car completes the dash from 0-100 kph in 5.4 seconds and the S does it just 4.7 seconds.

For more serious drivers, Porsche also offers a Sport Chrono package which further enhances the dynamics of the car. The 2013 Porsche Boxster then, is not just better looking but, the lightweight aluminium construction and the added horsepower along with lower fuel consumption and emissions gives it the edge over its rivals. Even though, we could expect premium pricing, the entry-level Porsche as it’s called has certainly entered the next level.
