Next generation 2014 Skoda Laura/Octavia could get larger and rival the likes of the Honda Accord-Toyota Camry
Sometime in 2013, Skoda will launch the all new Octavia/Laura as a 2014 model. The 2014 Skoda Octavia(Known as the Laura in India) is also expected to get much larger than ever before with the model touted to nudge the 4.8 meter mark in terms of length. So, the next generation Octavia/Laura could rival the likes of the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry. The 2014 Skoda Octavia/Laura will be built on the MQB platform but will use a modified length which will be longer than the likes of the Volkswagen Golfs and Audi A3s of this world.
Along with the longer version, Skoda also is said to be planning a shorter version of the Octavia/Laura which will occupy the same space as the existing model. This gives rise to various possibilities for the Volkswagen group owned Czech brand, in the Indian context. In India, the shorter version of the Octavia/Laura could be the replacement for the current Laura, while Skoda could position the longer version as a variant between the entry level Laura and the limo-like flagship variant, the Superb. This will give Skoda a wide range of models at almost every price point, right from the entry level Fabia hatchback to the flagship Superb sedan.
The next generation shorter version of the Octavia/Laura could take its styling inspiration from the Vision D and the Mission L concepts that Skoda unveiled over the past couple of years. With that, Skoda’s brand new design language, signified by the Mission L and Vision D concepts will become a reality in the coming years. Meanwhile, we’ve just put together an image gallery of both the Vision D and the Mission L concepts to give you a look and feel of how the upcoming Octavia/Laura could look like.

I think, it will be a tough job for Skoda Motors to contend with auto giants like Honda and Toyota. But, it has the potential to build its well-known Laura and Octavia models with all required amenities to give a tough competition to its rivals in the future.
