The E-Class is the fourth car that German car maker Mercedes Benz has launched in the year 2013, after the G63 AMG off roader, the B-Class and A-Class hatchbacks. Mercedes Benz has launched the facelifted 2014 E-Class in India at a price of Rs. 41.5 lakhs(ex showroom Delhi) for the petrol base variant.

The New E-Class is available with petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol model is tagged as E200 CGI and while the diesel model is called the E250 CDI. The diesel engined C250 CDI variant is priced at 44.48 lakh rupees while the top end E250 CDI model, in “Launch Edition” trim sells for 49.5 lakh rupees. Only 100 units of the launch edition model of the E-Class will be built.
The 2.0-litre direct injection petrol motor develops 184 Bhp-300 Nm and the 2.2-litre diesel engine makes 204 Bhp-500 Nm. Both these engines are mated to 7 speed G-tronic automatic transmission. The new model features exterior styling changes in the form of a restyled bonnet with smoother curves, a bigger grille that adopts new design language (similar found on GLA class), a new front bumper with bigger air intakes and single unit headlamps that replace the earlier angular dual light setup which was a trademark of previous generation E-Class.

The “Pajun” will take on the likes of the Mercedes E class, BMW 5-series, Audi A6 and Jaguar XF to same a few.

The headlamps get LED day time running light. The rear end gets upgrades of redesigned tail lamp and two chrome exhaust tips. The interiors of the new E-Class are also witness to some design changes, like upgrades to dashboard, steering wheel and control dials. The dials in the instrument cluster are now separated to form three circular silver rings.
The analog clock is now is placed between the center air vents. The center console has also been redesigned in silver colour to give it a more luxurious finish, resembling the one on the S-Class. The earlier shiny black inserts on the dashboard are replaced by new silver inserts.
The facelifted E-Class is 11 mm longer and 10 mm higher than the predecessor. The facelifted E-Class has 2,000 new/ redesigned components as mentioned by Carsten A. Bauer, General Manager, (Product Management). The car is available with “Direct Control” suspension as standard. This suspension gives better ride quality by adjusting damping according to road surface. The car also gets optional adaptive LED headlamps and park assist.
