Aston Martin begins taking orders for the Vanquish sports tourer from India

Iconic British sportscar marquee Aston Martin, whose sportscars have been immortalized by being a standard fixture in most of James Bond’s flicks, is now available in India. The brand was launched in India last year and ever since, Aston Martin has been selling steady numbers in one of the world’s fastest growing car markets. Aston Martin has been selling four cars in India, for the past year, apart from the One-77 limited edition sportscar, a solitary model of which was sold to an Indian. Now, a fifth model has been included in the Aston Martin line up in the form of the 2013 Vanquish sports tourer.

The Vanquish is the flagship car in the Aston Martin line up and the most expensive too, with a price tag of INR 3.85 crores, ex-showroom Mumbai. The Vanquish is a two seater sports tourer that is a high performance model with a 6 liter,V12 petrol engine that is naturally aspirated. This engine produces a peak power of 565 Bhp at 6,750 rpm while peak torque of 620 Nm is generated at 5,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a dual clutch automatic transmission with six cogs. The transmission comes with a Touchtronic 2 paddle shifters.

With this mid mounted engine and transmission combination powering the rear wheels of the car, the Vanquish sprints to 100 Kph from standstill in 4.1 seconds, to go on to hit a top speed of 295 Kph. The car gets ceramic brakes on all four wheels for better stopping power while a limited slip differential ensures control in the curves even at high speeds. The two door car is available in two seating configurations, a 2+2 four seat layout and a 2+0 two seat layout.  The 2013 Vanquish is a grand tourer is based on the new VH(Vertical Horizontal) architecture that will underpin the next generation of Aston Martin sportscars.

Extensive use of carbon fiber to build the body of the car, along with other aerodynamic bits means that the Vanquish is both light as well as stiff enough to suit high performance handling needs. On the inside, bespoke materials used in the cabin and dashboard of the 2013 Vanquish heighten the luxury quotient of the car. A brand new entertainment system is a new addition. The car gets a range of safety options like Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with Track mode, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Positive Torque Control (PTC), Traction Control and Launch Control.
