2012 Audi A6: One of the safest cars money can buy
The new Audi A6 is one of the safest family cars around. The folks at the Euro NCAP have rewarded the Audi A6 a 5-Star safety rating. Now, it is very difficult for any car to pass this test as very few manage to attain these levels of safety standards. Along with the Audi A6 nine other cars who also managed to pass the stringent safety standards.
An Audi A6 with a 2.0 litre engine was tested by the European safety organization which earned 41 points regarding child occupant protection, getting maximum points for both the 18 month old child and 3 year old child tests.

This does not mean that adults aren’t safe in the new car in fact, in the case of a frontal or side collision, the Audi A6 is among the safest for adult occupants. The new Audi A6 also scored high in pedestrian safety tests. As far as active safety systems on the car are concerned, the Audi A6 offers an integral pedestrian protection systems with standard daytime running lights and optional night vision assistant with a pedestrian warning. Additional driver assistance systems include Audi active lane assist or the all-weather light with adaptive headlight range control.
Audi explains,
“The Audi pre sense system is a milestone in active safety. In situations where a collision is likely, the “Audi pre sense plus” system initiates partial braking. If a collision is unavoidable, the partial braking is followed by a full deceleration that reduces the intensity of the impact. Target braking assists drivers in situations where they do not apply sufficient braking force despite having received visual and acoustic warnings.”
The European safety agency will be introducing even stringent safety regulation next year. According to them the new safety standards of 60 percent for pedestrian safety which will be required for the 5-Star rating in 2012. Following is the video of the test conducted by Euro NCAP:
