Audi Q5 Crossover Facelift spotted cold weather testing!

The Audi Q5 is one of the best selling luxury crossovers in India and has been running rings around the BMW X3 SAV despite the latter being an all new model. Audi might give the Q5 Crossover a mid career makeover in the next year or so and the facelifted model has just been spotted doing cold weather testing in the Nordic by our friends over at AutoEvolution. The Audi Q5 Crossover gets a new front end with brand new headlamps and a refreshed grille. The bumper too gets changed and this is pretty much what we can discern from the spyshots.

It remains unclear as to what other changes that the Q5 gets through the facelift, which at first glance appears to be a mid career makeover than a full model change. The rear of the facelifted Q5 though, remains bog similar to the existing model.  The Audi Q5 is assembled at Audi’s Aurangabad assembly unit through the completely knocked down(CKD) route and this has meant that the base 2 liter TDI diesel engined model has been very competitively priced, a big reason for the good sales that this big butch crossover has been experiencing.

Audi will also begin assembling is flagship crossover, the Q7, in India over the next few months through CKD kits. This move is expected to make the Q7 cheaper by about 20%. So, expect a cracker of a price tag for the 2012 Q7 Crossover in the coming months. Audi’s Q range of crossovers have been dominating the Indian luxury SUV market and in the coming months, an all new crossover will join this brigade. Audi will launch the Q3 Crossover in the second half of 2012, as a rival to the hot selling BMW X1. The 2012 Audi Q3, will be assembled in India and is expected to be competitively priced at under INR 30 lakhs.
