Audi says yes to the Q6 Coupe Crossover, to take on the BMW X6!
Apparently, the popularity and sales numbers of the love-me-hate-me BMW X6 has been such that Audi is readying up it’s own crossover called the Q6 to make most of the demand for unconventional coupe crossovers. While not much is known about the Audi Q6 and what all it’s specifications will be, it is anticipated that the Q6 will sit between the Q5 and Q7 and will be an out and out coupe crossover that will promise a car like handling with an SUV like street presence.
That is pretty much what we’re used to with the BMW X6 Coupe Crossover, which incidentally also sells in India. The Audi Q6 might feature the Porsche Cayenne-Volkswagen Touareg platform and shop for parts from the huge parts bin that the Volkswagen group currently has. This means that the Q6 Coupe Crossover could come with a bunch of engine options and like is the flavor of the season, come with a hybrid option too.
Since the BMW X6 is also available in the high performance M monikered variant, Audi too might follow suit with it’s own iteration of high performance with the RS tagged Q6. While the anticipated launch period o the Q6 remains unknown at this moment, 2012-2013 could be when the Audi Q6 Coupe Crossover makes a splash. If at all that happens, India might too figure in the Audi Q6′s plans as the BMW X6 already sells here and Audi India wouldn’t want to miss out on giving the Indian car buyer another alternate.
