Bentley boss, Wolfgang Dürheimer has confirmed the company’s plans to introduce a ultra-luxury SUV that will take on the Range Rover and Porsche Cayenne Turbo. However, being a Bentley the new SUV is expected to be priced a tad bit higher that its competition for the exclusivity the brand offers its customers. The CEO of the British marque believes that there is a potential for such a product in the market today. Also, the competition in the segment above the SUVs like the Range Rover Autobiography and the top-of-the-line Cayenne.

The new SUV is expected to hit showrooms by 2015 and like most Bentleys, will feature a gargantuan engine under the hood. Most probably the Bentley SUV could have a W12 engine like the Continental with a few modern tweaks to the engine that will help save a few drops of fuel. The new Bentley SUV (name yet to be decided) will add to the Bentley range of luxury cars and sports cars that include names like the Continental GT and the Mulsanne limousine.

The new Bentley will form an all new segment in the premium end of the market given the fact that it could be priced over the current range of high-end SUVs. According to folks at Motor Trend, the new Bentley SUV could be priced above the $150,000 bracket. That said, the SUV, quite possibly would be based on the same platform as the Porsche Cayenne and the Audi Q7. Since, Volkswagen own the brands it won’t be a hassle to get hold of a chassis for the new SUV. Still, expect acres of wood and leather inside the car and we can just hope Bentley does not make a hash of it by bringing-in a sports model later on.
