In India, automakers across the spectrum have bee painting the town red, er, with every color in the book, on the occasion of Holi, the annual festival of colors through various means. BMW is one such automaker, which is running a special Holi campaign on social networking site Facebook and also through a special website. At the Mini page on Facebook and at the special Mini website, fans can splash colors on the Mini car of their choice. This unique buzz building move from Mini comes close on the heels of the brand being launched in India, the 100th market for this iconic brand, much revered for its fun to drive, sporty cars. The Mini brand is also known for its youthful appeal. BMW owned Mini, launched its Indian range of cars at the 2012 Auto Expo, where it also announced the prices for its cars. Currently, BMW sells four variants of the Mini in India with the cars presently being sold only in Delhi and Mumbai, while plans of expanding to other cities in due course of time does exist.
The four Mini car models that BMW sells in India are the Mini cooper, the Mini Cooper S, the Mini Convertible and the Mini Countryman. While the Mini Cooper and the Convertible get the 1.6 Liter, 122 Bhp petrol engine, the Cooper S and the Countryman get the 1.6 Liter turbo petrol engine good for 184 Bhp. Both these engines are mated to six speed automatic gearboxes. The Cooper costs 24.99 lakhs, the Cooper S sells for 27.9 lakhs, the Convertible for 29.99 lakhs and the Countryman for 31.99 lakhs, respectively, with all prices reflective of ex-showroom Delhi figures.
