Bugatti 16C Galibier Concept Car: Geneva Motor Show 2010

Volkswagen’s hypercar arm, Bugatti has made a sedan. Yes, you read that right. Don’t worry though because the makers of the fastest and the most expensive production car ever have not ruined their brand value. Towing the line laid on by the (featureless) Porsche Panamera and the (sexy) Aston Martin Rapide, Bugatti have followed suit with the 16C Galibier four-door luxury sedan concept.

The Galibier will feature bespoke styling, LED headlights, a split rear window, and an eight tailpipe exhaust system. Yep you read that right. Inside, the luxurious cabin has individual seating for four, a floating center console, and a Parmigiani Fleurier clock.

Under the split hood, is a massive 8.0 litre 16-cylinder (hence the namesake 16 C) engine with two-stage supercharging. Bugatti has gone hush on details but we believe that the flex-fuel engine will likely produce 800 to 1,000 bhp. With all-wheel drive and carbon ceramic brakes, the Galibier claims to be the “most exclusive, elegant, and powerful four-door automobile in the world.” says Bugatti CEO Franz-Josef Paefgen.

The styling is to be seen to be believed. It comes across as a perfect stable-mate for the Veyron. Bugatti has chosen to name the car after the classic 4-door Bugatti Type 57. Galibier is also one of the most difficult alpine passes along the Tour de France.

The Galibier was first unveiled for public at the Geneva show this year. Earlier, in September last year, the car made a special appearance exclusively for Bugatti owners. Pomp and circumstance? We think so.
