Prices of essential commodities are shooting through the roof in India with the man on the street crying hoarse. Now, cars also may face the heat of a similar kind, the kind of heat that only the finance minister Pranab Mukherjee can create. This year’s union budget may see an hike in excise duty resulting in the cars becoming dearer.
This move is expected to come during the annual budget of the Finance Minister due in March. The price hike in 2010 could be in the range of 2-4%. People interested to buy cars before the price hike may do so by creating invoices before the budget is announced. This will enable you, the consumer to buy your car at existing rates, during the time at which the invoice is made, not at the hiked price.
