Green Story: Chevrolet Aveo CNG/Bifuel Launched
Chevrolet Aveo CNG
CNG and other cleaner fuels like LPG are getting bigger by the day with manufacturers like General Motors India, Toyota and Maruti Suzuki betting big on this. Yesterday, General Motors India launched the flex fuel variant of the Chevrolet Aveo 1.4 which will now also run on CNG in addition to petrol.
The 1.4 Liter VGIS engine of the Aveo which now supports the CNG fuel option will come with hardened valve seats and anodized pistons. This, as the gases don’t lubricate as well as petrol and hence some parts will be exposed to higher wear and tear if they aren’t modified suitably.
Along with this General Motors India is offering a 3 year/100,000 Kilometers warranty. That should satisfy most Aveo Bifuel car model owners on the reliability front. Now, here’s something you will lose in the bifuel option. The boot space is now greatly reduced as the CNG tank sits in the boot. This is a small compromise that Aveo CNG owners will have to lie with for the benefits of lower running costs and emissions.
Will this latest move from GM India save the plummeting Aveo sales. We think it might to a certain extent, till the new 2011 Aveo Model comes in and replaces the existing version.

The new CHEVROLET AVEO almost resembles the basic version of Honda City. Do you agree with my comment.
