New Chevrolet Captiva SUV coming in October!
The current Chevrolet Captiva SUV has been selling steadily even with the Toyota Fortuner SUV continuing to top sales charts month after month, as the Chevy offers an automatic transmission option, a key feature that is missing in the Fortuner. General Motors India is all set to follow up the Chevrolet Beat’s launch with the new version of the Captiva, that has already been launched globally.
While we brought you this story eons ago but today, we have definite information about the facelifted Captiva SUV being launched in October this year and hence, here’s a quick update on what all the new Captiva would get along with the exterior and the interior refresh. The SUV, which now adopts the GM family styling with a prominent grille up front, looks much more aggressive than the current version.
This aspect of the SUV could endear it to many prospective buyers. Even on the inside, the twin pod cockpit layout that GM introduced with the Cruze and the Beat will be carried forward to the Chevrolet Captica SUV, thus making for an interior refresh. Engine options though could remain the same although General Motors does sell the Captiva globally with a new 2.2 Liter CRDI diesel engine producing 163 Bhp of shove and 350 Nm of twist.
So this engine might come along to India along with anew range of six speed manual and automatic transmissions. October is when General Motors India has lined up the new Chevrolet Captiva SUV for an Indian launch. With the Captiva SUV arriving in October, expect Ford India to ready up the new Endevour SUV in 2012, also with an automatic transmission option.
Will Toyota Kirloskar hasten the arrival of the Fortuner Automatic in the face of growing competition is what we’re wondering about, now that the Fortuner has already recieved a face lift internationally. It better do if it wants to maintain the leadership that the Fortuner has managed to gain at the hustings. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, God bless competition.
