The Chevrolet Enjoy MPV, known as the Wuling Honguang in China and as the Chevrolet CN100 in many other international markets, will be launched in India shortly. General Motors India will pit the Chevrolet Enjoy MPV against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Toyota Innnova. In terms of pricing, expect the Chevrolet Enjoy to be priced closer to the Ertiga than the Innova. While a diesel engined variant of the Chevrolet Enjoy MPV was a given right from the word go, details about the petrol engined variant of the Enjoy were quite sketchy. Now though, we have some much needed clarity about the Enjoy’s petrol engine, in this case an all new 1.4 Liter unit.
2013 Chevrolet Enjoy MPV
The 1.4 Liter-4 cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine is an all new unit that will be built at General Motors’ engine making factory at Talegaon, off Pune. The engine outputs 103 Bhp of peak power and 131 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a five speed manual gearbox. Given the engine’s specifications, it seems like the petrol version of the Enjoy will be pitted straight at the Ertiga Petrol, which also comes with a 1.4 Liter K-Series petrol engine that outputs 94 Bhp-130 Nm. The Enjoy is also available with a 1.3 Liter turbo diesel engine, a motor that is likely to bring in the lion’s share of volumes for the MPV.
The diesel engine outputs 76 Bhp-187 Nm. Both the petrol and diesel versions of the Enjoy are rear wheel driven. The Enjoy MPV will be capable of seating seven to eight adults. This possibly means that the Enjoy could be available in multiple seating options. The Enjoy MPV is expected to be positioned above the Chevrolet Tavera in General Motors’ Indian line up. The Enjoy will be one of the few MPVs available in India to be offered with both petrol and diesel engines.
