First clear images of the 2012 Maruti Suzuki Dzire Compact Sedan surface! EDIT: Launch on 1st February!

In early February,[EDIT: 1st February will be the launch] Maruti Suzuki will launch the 2012 Dzire Compact Sedan. But before that, here are the first clear images of the Dzire Compact Sedan, a car that will replace the Dzire full size sedan, in an occurrence that is very unique to say the least. In fact, the Dzire compact sedan could be the first car whose compact sedan version will replace the full sized model. With the shortened boot to meet the sub-4 meter regulation and minimal overhang, the Dzire CS looks much better than the previous full sized sedan, a car that we have never failed to criticize for the ugly boot integration on what essentially was a Swift hatchback.

Criticisms apart, it is a different story altogether that Dzire sedan is best seller from Maruti. Coming back to the Dzire CS, it is quite evident that the dashboard has been borrowed from the new Swift. So, expect much better quality levels, especially when it comes to the plastics’ feel. Along with that, Maruti Suzuki has given the Dzire CS beige interiors to make it seem roomier while giving it a premium touch. The Dzire CS’s interiors look like a notch above that on the new Swift. Maruti has indicated that the Dzire  CS will be more expensive than the current versionand the premium interiors seem to be a step in that direction.

The existing Dzire sedan will be positioned as a cut price version, with the base model mainly catering to the cab market. The Dzire compact sedan will be available with a four speed automatic gearbox in addition to the five speed manual gearbox. The automatic gearbox will be offered only on the petrol model, specifically the VXi variant. While the bottom LXi and LDi variants could be the full sized version, the Dzire CS could come in two variants for each engine version, VXi, ZXi, VDi and ZDi variants. The 1.2 Liter K-series engine and the 1.3 Liter multijet engines will be the petrol and diesel engine on the Dzire CS respectively.
