Some more details emerge about the just-unveiled Bajaj RE60 four wheeler/city car!
Bajaj Auto has pulled off what many thought would be more of a pipe dream when the Pune based automaker announced its plans of making a “car” that would be cheaper and more fuel efficient than the Tata Nano way back in 2008. The only rider being the fact that this “car” is the most basic iteration of what a four wheeled form of transport can be. It would be more apt for the Bajaj RE60 to be called a four wheeled passenger carrier than a car due to the following specifications that have emerged. We’ve even had one of our readers likening the RE60′s rear to that of a grown up autorickshaw.
Meanwhile, here are a few important details of the Bajaj RE60 four wheeler,
* Bajaj Auto is clear about the RE60 being more of a four wheeled basic form of transport than a proper car.
* Bajaj could price this vehicle close to 1 Lakh rupees.
* The RE60 will be used both as a passenger as well as load carrier.
* The RE60′s monocoque will be built of carbon polymer.
* The engine is a 4 valves per cylinder DTSi unit that displaces 200cc.
* Peak power of about 16 to 20 Bhp means that the RE60 is not even half as powerful as the Nano.
* The RE60 produces only 60 grams of CO2 per kilometer, this being a major highlight of the four wheeler.
* A CNG variant of the RE60 will also be available.
* Everything about the RE60 is bare basic, designed to transport 4 adults with no frills whatsoever.
* The Bajaj RE60 weighs a very light 400 Kilograms and will be built at Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
* Front windows will fold down and not slide down like they do in conventional cars.
* The RE60 has a 44 liter boot with 95 liters of under seat storage available.
* The RE6 has lockable cubby holes.
* Production of the RE60 will begin in a few months time.

As BAJAJ auto is done grate job till now in Automobile Companies. But in car industry they have to work more hard as per the look its ok, but sounds good as in the form of practicality. How the car will work lets see in future. But i like this post as Indian auto industry is growing.
Best and wise alternative to two-wheelers for a small family to travel in rain and sun in better comfort than a bike. Engine could have been 220CC.
I never understood why small cars cannot be designed well…
t won’t be launched in INDIA, its for Poor countries like Srilanka where people currently using Bajaj 3 wh Auto ricks as personal vehicle.
INDIAN Mindset won’t accept a developed Auto rickshaw.(if a foreigner does its great, but if an INDIAN does its crap).
I feel pity for people who still call it a car.its a new segment for Auto Rickshaws. Grow up people !!!
Roadways di lari na koi booha(door)na koi bari(window)
parece un buen auto, al menos en las fotos impresiona con una carrocería de lineas austeras pero sobrias. Espero que lo podamos fabricar pronto en Argentina para el mundo.
