Diesel Power for the Etios?

Toyota is betting big on the Etios concept that will hit serial production in December, 2010. ET now reports that the powers to be at Toyota are considering a diesel engine for the Toyota Etios.

This move comes on the back of Toyota Kirloskar Motors’ realization that the all the best sellers in the mid size market like the Dzire and Indigo come with diesel engine options, and that in most cases, the diesels are outselling their petrol variants.

While Toyota hasn’t confirmed the diesel engine option just as yet, it is said to be seriously contemplating the option. We’re betting on the 1.4 Liter Diesel engine from Yaris that could make it to the Etios’s engine bay as the diesel in question is known be a torquey mill that is also capable of a very decent power output of 90-100 Bhp.
